Saudi Arabia: SASO Enforces New Product Labelling Mandate
SASO mandates that by Oct 1, 2026, products under 10 specific Technical Regulations must display the supplier name and CR number to get SABER certification. PDF
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has issued an official circular detailing strict new enforcement rules for product labelling and marking requirements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
To prevent supply chain disruptions, businesses importing or manufacturing regulated goods must ensure absolute alignment with these updates before the rapidly approaching deadline.
The Compliance Deadline: October 1, 2026
Beginning October 1, 2026, SASO will officially mandate that no Certificate of Conformity (CoC) will be issued through the SABER electronic platform for any covered product that does not comply with the new labelling specifications.
Any shipment failing to meet these criteria after this date will face certification rejection and potential legal penalties under the Saudi Product Safety Law.
What Are the New Labelling Requirements?
Under the updated mandate, technical regulations require specific, clear labelling directly on the product itself. Companies must permanently and visibly display:
The Supplierโs Name: Clearly identifying either the registered Importer or the Local Manufacturer.
The Commercial Registration (CR) Number: The official CR number corresponding to the local Saudi entity.
Which Products Are Affected?
This enforcement phase targets products governed by the following 10 specific Technical Regulations (TRs):
Technical Regulation for Tanks - Part 2: LPG Tankers
Technical Regulation for Watercrafts
Technical Regulation for Tanks
Technical Regulation for Trailers and Semi-Trailers
Technical Regulation for Electrical Self-Balancing Boards (Scooters)
Technical Regulation for Simple Pressure Vessels
Technical Regulation for Child Restraint Systems and Strollers
Technical Regulation for Building Materials - Part 3: Hydraulic Links and Related Products
Technical Regulation for Solar Photovoltaic Systems
Technical Regulation for Electrical Lifts used in Buildings and Facilities
Action Plan for SANTIQ Clients
If your portfolio includes products under these categories, we highly recommend taking immediate corrective action by coordinating with your manufacturing facilities to update the physical marking moulds, stamps, or labels to include the correct Importer/Manufacturer name and Saudi CR number.
